LeseLab was the core project during my internship at the AIS Lab in Hochschule Rhein-Waal. Centering around improving children’s reading performance, it consisted of platforms such as STREEN-Studio where I had tasks involved designing user interfaces as well as visual assets.

I redesigned the LeseLab logo to align with the brand new design guidelines. Refining what we had previously, we conveyed the idea of reading in the context of imagination, technology, innovation and curiosity. In addition, I designed tags for the different tools under STREEN, such as STREEN-Studio, STREEN-StoryMaker, STREEN-Quest and STREEN-Arcade. The final LeseLab World website can be viewed here: https://leselab.de/.

A big part of my internship was also about creating the user interfaces. Below are two main features (Record and Discover) for STREEN-Studio. This process involved breaking down the system to get an overview of all the functions and their interactions with one another.

To illustrate stories scene-by-scene, I created a set of vector-based modular assets that would allow the assets to be reused as many times as needed. The environments were designed by my colleague, Uri. This process of character design involved thinking in terms of modularity. In the end, I tested this system by making a storyboard.
