Curious Bodies is a growing digital archive that collects wonderful, strange objects and their stories. Inspired by our individual and collective memory with physical belongings, this project aims to capture the stories and our connection to them.

'Curious' evokes the fascination that these bodies trigger, while 'bodies' refer to the material presence of the collected objects. Through creating an Open Call for wonderful objects, I gathered a wide range of objects from friends, family, strangers. Through the art of scanography, the objects have been reduced down to their raw features — to mere black and white bodies. The analog-to-digital transformation plays an effect on how we interact with a digital archive. Later on, users are also offered an opportunity to reveal the actual object.
